Wait. I remember reading in some document about Triolina and her various mate, and among others she mated an earth-being, and their offspring was all water reptiles, specifically including Mosasauruses and Plesiosauruses (Mosasauri? In RW biology they are more closely related to lizards, I seem to remeber, but what the heck).
So perhaps not all big reptiles are dragon-related. But land dinosaurs specifically are. So, Earth for the heavy ones, water for the duck-billed, storm for the carnosaurs (storm being an active element, and carnivores being more active than herbivores, since their food is moving), and I do not think Sky and Darkness even enter into it, unless there are flying or burrowing dinosaurs around.
Actually, some big reptiles may also be non-draconic, but perhaps only draconic beings could tell the difference (What is the number to Scholar Wyrm?).
Wodehouse and the Dara Happans, just to keep a silly thread moving:
Someone mentioned Bertie Wooster. Anyone here who, like me, has had a
Wodehouse period? There was another Wodehouse character, that Lord
Blandings, whose sole concern in his life was pig breeding and his
price pig the Queen of Blandings. His sister or wife (I do not
remember) was a totally different character: she was very
interested in keeping it up in High Society, inviting all
kinds of artists and famous people (not that she understood
art, but that was just a thing that you did) to their amnor,
to the poor lords great regret. There was a lot of plot going
around that sow, if I remember things right.
Someone suggested Dara Happan nobles breeding dinosaurs. This gave
me the following vision of a Scenario Seed:
The characters, being A, Lunar Stoogies interesting in secreting the
support of the Lord or B, Any kind of Resistance wishing exactly the
opposite or C, in any case someone who wants something from the Lord,
becomes mixed up in the theft of his beloved price gazzam, the only
thing he cares for in the world, while his female relative runs the
show.
Somewhat harder than stealing a sow.... and if you are tracking the
thieves instead, if they succeeded in getting it outof sight, they're
very clever or very lucky (or had Lots Of Inside Help).
