I wish to meddle in the dwarven limb replacement debate with my own
vision of how do the different heresies deal with this.
- Octamonists: They reject all this replacement thing. If the dwarf
cannot be repaired to its normal functioning self, it must be terminated, as
it does not conform to the traditional Mostali standards.
- Decamonists: If the individual is still serviceable, it will be given
magical and mechanical aid (but no permanent prothesis), like wheelchairs and
nilmerg assistants. In an extreme case it can always teach
- Individualists. Depends on the concerned individual, and the abilitieshe can access (fellow individualists). It may substite mechano-magical analogues
or even replace functioning limbs with "better" ones. Frowned upon by many as a
fast track.
- Vegetarians: Instead of making resource expensive limbs or aids, grow
a new one (or graft an existing one). Biotechnology, anyone.
- Openhandists. For themselves, it depends on the general heresy.
However they will make available to customers marvelous limbs, enhanced senses
or even body rebuilding. Of course all need expensive dwarven maintenence, and
you can find your arm strangling you if the World Machine needs it.
Cyberknights, anyone?
Finally, to say that I support Erik's view on vegetarian D., and that I
use now the pronoun "it" to refer to D., as the more adequate.
European dwarfs, march on.
