The points you raised Dave are valid but I think you're giving them a 20thC slant. They are all temporal, ephemeral matters, things of the all too brief flesh. They are unimportant if you don't get to go to heaven. Orlanth is real and so is the afterlife. It certainly makes for devout worshippers.

Why do you say that? If it's too emotive or un Glorantha related you can email
me directly mav_at_pobox.com.
I will say that the the Orlanthi rebels are fighting a war against an
opponent held to be their most hated religous enemy. Chaos. There's
no reasoning or compromise involved in destroying chaos. There's no
honour or rules of engagement (aside from the challenges described by
Orlanth) in fighting chaos. No said Orlanthi had to fight them as if they
were human.
