Getting in is a piece of cake. The trick is to do it _in_force_. It's all very well to jump over the walls but if you don't have a small army with you, then you are _toast_ (cf Balastor's end). Hence putting an unroofed wall around the castle or city is still useful.

There are some examples of magical siege action in glorantha.

The Pelorians have a long history (dating back to the Golden Age) of using earthquakes to shake down enemy walls. Naturally they had learnt how to build walls that were immune to small earthquakes (the maximum that could be summoned by revolting Lodrili - anything larger requires a fair bit of organisation).

The Ram People sacked Elempur by leaping over the walls as did Gerak Kag at Pavis. Modern Orlanthi would use Fly spells for the same effect although Harvar Ironfist relied on Windwalkers.

The Storm Barbarians during the Eight Season Wars used winter magic to create ramparts of ice to climb up the walls of the Cities of Vralos that were held in Harsh Tyranny by the Confederates of Fonrit.

Emperor Erzanelm of Dara Happa (ruled before the Sun Stop) was killed when trying to burn down a Stone Wall in Arir. He was crushing a revolt at the time.

The Zistorites summoned Zistor himself to tear down the walls of the Cities of Esrolia. Horse Emperor Illadarga summons a demon with the help of his horrific mother.
