The confusion is that you've only seen them reported in a war context (they don't show up much in Korol's Saga
<http://www.pensee.com/dunham/glorantha/todp/> because he's not familiar with women's magic or politics).

The Orendanae are an important faction in Colymar tribal politics. They're something of an Ernalda subcult of the three (or four, or six) Earths. They favor the sacrificial king tradition. Even though the current (in 1356) king was crowned with Alakoring's rites instead of the Orendanae sacred king rites (a severe blow to the Orendanae), he felt that he had to renew his kingship at the seven year point, just to keep the Orendanae happy.

The Orendanae can indeed field a small group of warriors, all of whom are scary Babeester Gor initiates.

I've made a new discovery about Ralios: the East Ralians have bullfights. Not the Iberian kind, instead they're like Viking horse fights only between bulls. This honors the Bemuri ancestors of many of the Ralians (actually, most I think the Vustrians lost big to Arkat, and there are few people with much Vustrian blood any more).

Shockingly, some of the Safelstran city-states have bullfights too, only there, men fight bulls!

Paolo Guccione suggested the term "Bemuromachy," and Erik Sieurin suggested this dialog:

Ralian tourist: "What's the noise about?" Sartarite guide: "Well, there's a cockfight in progress." Ralian tourist: "Do you fight with _cocks_? What sissies! In MY country, we have bullfights..."
