>What I'm saying, is that when a Hero assumes the mantel of his god, he
>might have to deal with some of the problems that god has to deal with
>and since he hasn't achieved the PERFECTION of that god, he might not be
>able to deal with it consistantly or adequatly.

I doubt it. The Heroquester is not becoming the god in all respects. If one did, then one would be subsumed by the God and not come back.

>1) Could Belinthar be a kind of GL survivor, three centuries
>after their downfall ?

All Greg has said is that he fell out of the future. Perhaps the God Learners are coming back?

>2) Did the Lunars heroquest to stop the Reincarnation process
>or was there an "accident" ?

Greg in the RQ-CON 2 compendium makes it clear that the Lunars heroquested:

'The Pharaoh had a routine ritual that he was used to going
through, and the Lunars loaded it against him. There's one
stage where the Pharoah had to negotiate with the Men in
Red to cross the river. He knows from all the stories he's
done that he has to give them each a gold coin from a foreign
land. And _this_ time, the Men in Red are all Lunar Agents
with their own agenda. And they say, "This has to be a gold
coin from the Realm of Khordavu!" And suddenly the myth
doesn't work for the Pharaoh, and the Men in Red say, "You don't
know the end of this story, do you? Well, we do!" <mimes
drawing a sword> (laughter) And they grabbed the Pharaoh, and
cut him up into his portions, just like the Red Goddess had been,
and hid them scattered throughtout the universes.'

The Genertela book claims that Jar-eel arranged this.

>3) Why are volcanic cults associated with dizygotic rulers or gods
>(Caladra, Tarsh) ? Is it a mystery of autochthony ?

Dizygotic? I like that word, I must use it more often. The answer is much simpler. The Twins of Tarsh are not volcanic deities, they worship the Shaking Earth.

The God of Caladraland was originally not Caladra but Caladril (a male deity). He revolted against Argan Argar but was conquered and enslaved and forced to built the Castle of Black Glass. When the God Learners conquered Caladraland*, they wanted to ensure the obediance of their new subjects, civilize them to some extent but remain aloof of the mythic ties that could be commanded by the Only Old One.

So they turned the old enslaved Caladril into Lodril and said the God of Vent was really the goddess Caladra. This goddess had never been enslaved by Argan Argar. Thus the new religion had ties to the mythical landscape of Caladraland but was immune to whatever mythic ties the Only Old One could muster. He could of course conquer Caladraland (as he later did) and create new mythic ties but he had just had his arse kicked. The God Learners then indulged in some heavyduty heroquesting to turn Caladra into one of the Volcano Twins (the other being Aurelion of Jrustela). This had the effect of unifying their dominions in Caladraland, Slontos and Jrustela under a coherent mythology within the God Learner paradigm.

>The EWF did not
>endanger the Compromise since it was within the Orlanthi mythical lexicon
>(the Hunting and Waltzing Bands proved that Orlanth was the Dragonfriend
>and King Storm Dragon - and everybody was happy).

A nitpick: The Hunting and Waltzing Bands did not prove that Orlanth was the Dragonfriend. They enchanted people into the Draconic Mysteries. Since the EWF was descended from the Solar Imperial Theocracy, it seems to me that the 'key political figures' who were converted in one sitting were the Sun Dome worshippers rather than Orlanthi strongmen. Remember this is occuring against a background of a war against the Uz overlords about taxation.

The cult of Orlanth Dragonfriend doesn't start up until sometime after this. According to KoS 'the Dragon Wars', people stopped going to the rites of Orlanth which caused unrest amongst the conservative Orlanthi. It is after this that the Obduran the Flyer creates the cult using special rituals, the effect of which is described from the Theistic PoV in KoS p191.
