You seem to have the words "evils" and "virtues" transposed in that last sentence. :-)

Less controversially, we do enjoy using chrome from every "Evil Empire" that comes to hand when describing the Lunar Empire, and the fact that their origin is relatively recent, that they offer social transformation to the lands they occupy, that their mythos can be seen as "progressive" and "optimistic", and that -- unlike the other tired, outdated cults of Glorantha -- they seem to be working wholeheartedly  towards a permanent transformation of the Cosmos (to suit their new model), makes the Lunar/Soviet or Lunar/Communist parallels at least as attractive as the Lunar/Islam or Lunar/French Revolution ones we also borrow from.

Plus: when you have an Evil Empire that includes (in canonical sources) the use of Sickles, Red Stars, Icebreakers, the colour Red, etc... it's hard to resist temptation. (And we, indeed, do not). "Borrowing" 1984's Newspeak as an ideological inspiration for "advanced" New Pelorian also makes me chuckle...

I hope "our" Lunars are still Graeco-Romano-Byzanto-Arabian enough not to detract overly from the flavour of our source materials. (Not to mention that ultimate Evil Empire, the good old Brits: surely, cries of "The Redcloaks are coming!" must echo around the log cabins of good ol' Sartarite homesteads).

BTW, congrats on one of the best Gloranthan scenario write-ups I have ever seen. "Makes 'The Boy King' look like an epic," as we say.
