Hello,
to: glorantha_at_chaosium.com

The honorable Mr. Wallace doesn't like Lore Auctions...

- -------------------------------------------------------
Actually, I love Lore Auctions. When you pay $1000 to get Greg to your con, it's nice to know that he is happy to help you get some of his travel costs back from the punters who have come to see him. What better way than with a Lore Auction. As long as you don't ask one of the seven forbidden questions (which includes what are the questions he won't answer), you can pester him about whatever you want. HINT: have this early on in the con, otherwise everyone has pestered him for free beforehand...

I have a feeling that part of the discomfort level may come the fact that people hang on his every word (we do tape record the auctions and often they get published) and take what he says as gospel. Ask Greg and he will happily tell you that he is really only expressing his non-binding opinion. Granted, Stafford's words carry a lot of weight with many of the players, but that's not because Greg goes around enforcing his opinion like a tyrant. (although he might roleplay a tyrant in the auction if he thought it was fun and would raise a lot more money for the con) Greg has repeatedly said that Glorantha is ours to develop. If there are fan boys who take his word as LAW and don't have the courage, imagination or motivation to come up with something that expands or modifies what they feel is WRITTEN IN STONE (or was written in 1971), that's their problem.

Note from Nochet:

Dwarven mining is a feat that has to be marvelled. The Dwarf at Dwarf Run has hidden doorways in his mines that open to unbelievable places. The red door on level 137J cooridor X346 leads to the abandoned Lunar Moon mining operation from 2 centuries ago. The maintenance crew is still trying to locate the keys to unlock the door connecting to the HAFOP (High Altitude Forward Observation Platform) constructed in the first age. Fortunately, the vacuum tube still has enough pressure remaining to send provisions.
