re Dwarf questions

My proposal was pretty theoretical, of course, and, sure, I could see there would be problems trying to understand them. That's the key - we would have to understand them, not necessarily the other way around. If we could somehow figure out what the right questions to ask were, and how to interpret the answers...

That I find surprising in any non-apostate dwarves/mostali. I had interpreted these guys as not having much personality of their own, with no _pride_ as such to speak of. I thought they would be primarily (solely) motivated to "getting it right", rather than "looking good doing it"

I saw them more as scientists, rather than sort of grunty rock bashers (I mean if you're striving for 2000% in something, it's got to be pretty sophisticated).

Fixing the world machine for a rock dwarf I imagined was all about finding perfect materials, which would mean you'd get involved in studying previous perfect materials.

Agreed. But why aren't they as busy above ground as below?

And what about moon, sun, stars? Are they planning any Apollo missions to go and fix whatever's gone wrong up there? They must at least have telescopes, musn't they?
