Lungs of Thunder wandered the eerie underworld for many days, exploring its surreal aspects. Sometimes everything turned upside down. Sometimes he was suspended below the ground as he explored. He fought and defeated shadows, ambitious twins, creeping crust, mighty thewed trolls, hiccoughing ballyworts, granny face-eater, the strangling noose, and many other dangers and lures to leave the path he had chosen.

These are the things that Lungs of Thunder did in his quest.

He swam with the children of Mother Frog. He discovered the Lake of Eight Sweet Waters. He filled the vessel of true form.
He carried an axe, adze and shovel into the Queen of the World's blackest iron mines.
Discovered a new pass through the Mountains of Plague and Pestilence. Forged ten nails using iron ore he had mined. Made himself a coat from the swarming Lanugo. Grew a crop of brussels sprouts and used the finest specimens for the thundering lungs that gave him his name. Discovered Fire to warm himself in the cold belly of the world, Light to spark his eyes in the darkness, and Smoke to awaken his sense of smell and taste.
Weaved himself a crown of human hair.

After 276 days, the land began to shake and roll. Lungs of Thunder ran to safety, led by the cat Magus, who was ever at his side. He took shelter in a cave, and noticed an opening at the back. He started to explore the depths of the cave, Magus supplying his eyes to see in the darkness. After two days, he became stuck in the deep tunnels. The earthquakes became more intense, and the underworld cried out in pain. Then everything turned upside down, and gouts of flame erupted through the tunnel floor close by. On the 278th day, a great wind rushed in and pulled him out of the tunnel into an impossibly bright other world.

He opened his mouth, squeezed his eyes shut, stretched out his blue arms and legs, and shouted at the gloriously blazing world.

Good news!
