Ask anyone who's CofE - or even the Bishop of Durham
Knowing there's an

'Believe' is not the same as 'know'
This is back to the 'people
>in the real world don't have proof of their beliefs' argument. I'm afraid
>it's simply false.
Oh really? One day I'll go through a really long and tedious discussion of belief with you - it was the most boring thing I ever did in my philosophy degree
Many people in the real world are absolutely convinced
>that they have real proof that their religious beliefs are true.
I'm afraid this is going to get into the objective/subjective territory. You can believe any old bollocks, what gives it a stronger case if you are able to prove your beliefs to others.
Just tryactualy talking to someone who holds such beliefs,
I did. For four years. You should try it some time.
Anyway, I've said my beliefs, I'm not going to get into a long debate about it, because I know mine to be true :)
