Nandan

From what I remember from Convulsion a few years back, Nandanites don't turn into women.

Nandan is a path for men that want to learn women's magic. And the ultimate womans magic is making children.

A nandanite takes a male to bed in the womens hut (Strong and ancient earth magic going on). And a child is concieved.

The actual birth is done in Godtime, and children born from these rare births tend to be magically powerful and closely linked to earth powers.

I think I think... Therefore I think I am.

PS. So indeed it's a cult where a _man_ can have a baby. It can bee seen as the ultimate form of a certain kind of homosexuality, but not necessarily. The orlanthi sexual customs are different from our own, and they don't seem to have the need to draw the fine lines our culture has. A clan in dire straits can decide to turn to the Earth Witch and Nandan, and many of the carls and warriors will have babies. Nifty, and serves to point out that the orlanthi aren't transplanted earthly peoples.
