> Can anyone recommend an accessible history of technology?
It's not really a history of technology, but I'm currently reading Ancient Inventions by Peter James and Nick Thorpe, which is fairly entertaining.
One bit of data from this book: trousers were worn as far back as 20000 years ago, which considerably pre-dates the domestication of the horse (though there's intriguing cave art that shows a bridled horse, dated about 17000 years ago).
