but this point struck me, about it being bad luck to have a Humakti sit at your hearth if there was a pregnant woman there
I imagine that pregnancy could be pretty common, and that therefore this idea means that Humakti can't sit at hardly any hearths, ever!
Is this what we envisage for Heortling society?
Or perhaps the bad luck is for the Humakti to sit next to a pregnant
woman?
Or to touch her?
Actually I like that idea, the 'touch' one. I think this retains the original social stigma, without meaning that you are blocked from visiting anyone most of the time (not to mention the time before women know they are pregnant)
actually how does that work?
If a Humakti visits your hearth and the following week you find out
that your eldest daughter is 3 weeks pregnant?
You'd basically never want a Humakti in your stead whilst there was a
woman of child-bearing age there, just to be on the safe side
sorry to be complex
I suppose that in summer the Humakti could sit outside, but in winter? Maybe you just never see them except when the weather is OK for sitting outside?? :)
