Elmal's Rest

Heys folks

So why does Elmal sink into the west each day? Where does he go, and why? Is he exhausted? Wounded? Does he need purification? To replenish his torch? Is the Darkness that he so hates and fights a necessary part of the Compromise?

Personally I favour an every evening battle with some Uz deity - hence those bloody sunsets (in the literally metaphor, non-Oztralian sense). I'm not sure which Uz though...

Elmal fights Uz in morning, and defeats her. (Dawn reds are darker and softer - Uz blood). At sunset, Elmal, exhausted by his labours of the day, must again fight, and is defeated and blooded.

Thoughts or suggestions most welcome! - on Elmal, how this reflects on his Greater Darkness mythology, and what effects (if any) this might have on the Elmal cult.

I realise this is speculative, and that there well may be alternative explanations for day and night. I also apologise if this intrudes on soon-to-be published Storm Tribe material.

Cheers

John

"Praise not the day till evening has come; a woman  till buried, a man till burned. Praise not a horse  till broken; a sword till bloodied; a youth till married.

Praise not a life till death has judged it. Thereafter,  nothing can change the song of our valiant dead."
