>A boring solution, I think. Too mundane. The essense of the real heroes of
>Glorantha is a form of immortality. They die, and they come back.

Given that HonEel, Hwarin and Sartar (among others) have died and not come back, we are talking about the final death of their mortal form - which the battle in part 3 of Argrath's saga records.

>Jar-Eel is the top heroine of the Empire. It will take a more convincing
>death than having her heart ripped out by a bear to keep her from coming
>back.

How about having her heart ripped out by Harrek the Berserk then? Do you think it fitting that JarEel can come back without any scratch while Harrek has to limp on in life with two massive scars and a missing foot?

David Dunham:

> > >Or that the fight wasn't between Jar-eel and Argrath.

> >The Fight is between JarEel and Harrek, not Argrath.

>Harrek doesn't appear at all in part 4.

We are talking about JarEel's death, which occurs at Harrek's hands in Part 3. Argrath is not on record as having killed JarEel either in there or in part 4 so your suggested solution only complicates a known event for no gain (as others have pointed out JarEel ran off with Annstad of Dunstop) while doing nothing to resolve the actual problem.
