...in our campaign we only have to make this roll if the 'patient' is
unconscious - the ref. assumes that characters have the capacity to decline
to resist or to be compliant in the healing process. Of course, if one was
unaware of the would-be healer's intentions and felt threatened for some
reason it would seem sensible to require the player to make the roll.

Greg Fried here.

Lewis:
I agree that that hellions, lamiae and succubi are hard cases. They lack
power and seek sustenance in vampiritic ways from the living, but they
themselves (erk!), at least in part, by having POW. But since they were
never living, they can't be undead, despite their naughty ways. How about
this: they are the unliving! They are a manner of demonic being who impinge
upon the cosmos from the outside.

I salute your fealty to the cause of keeping the shelves stocked with RQ
products!
---
Rob:
In principle, I like your ideas on long term damage. But oght this not to be
modified by the hit points a being has in the location? A duck with 2 HP in
the arm should take proportionally longer to recover from a 5 point blow
(Quack!) than would a cave troll with a 7 point arm. So I ssuggest another
proportion based on damage done vs location HP. No time to figure out what
that proportion is though!
---
Justin:
On the header to the RQ Daily (as has been pointed out before in moments like
these), is the statement that the Daily is dedicated to discussion of "Avalon
Hill's RPG" as well as to G S's Glorantha. That should mean you should feel
free to bring up issues relating to converting RQ to worlds other than
GLorantha. I doubt there's momentum for another Daily devoted simply to
that. And you can always email directly to thems who seem to share your
interests. So don't be shy!

GF out.

I do not support the idea of "my" world for rq3, though if the idea you
like coincides with mine, or you wish to use it, feel free to do so. I
support using rq3 for worlds other than Glorantha, since it seems likely
that limits will continue on Staffords work due to publishing constraints.

I reiterate that limiting healing to healers, above the spirit magic, ie
limiting the number of spirits you can even find with a mondo shaman above
spirit 3, to zero, wouild stop this. If chalana aroy has all of the
spirits above 3, then it settles the whole thing. even if you could settle
on maximum spell you wouldn't get far with only 3 points.

I always do physical healing first, unless it's an emergency. this way you
get something not based on the expenditure of mp. Crystals and
enchantments either cost an arm and a leg, or are exceedingly rare.
healers without the barrels of power required, don't heal people, at the
drop of a hat. healers, for all of their desire to fix the world, don't
have unlimited funding or time or energy. they can't do all of the work.

%%i.e Critical: multiply by 5

Huh? Don't you mean the other way around?

  If ROLLx20 <= skill, Critical
  If ROLLx5  <= skill, Special
  If ROLL    <= skill, Success

%% It seems that our group has been neglecting the 5mr wait between
%% spells (RQ III did it to me :-). I wasn't even aware of the 10mr
%% time limit - although it should be extended a little if you have a
%% 5mr wait between healing spells. The one spell per location rule
%% is ok if you allow a higher level healing to add its extra points to
%% that location. It does limit max healing on an area to your parties
%% best healer.

We have been using the "greater healing counts" rule, one magical casting
  per location.

%% I still think that Rune Healing ignores any other restrictions, and
%% can be cast on top of battle/spirit magic healing without a problem.

I agree. God-powered magic easily overrides any personal magics. The
one thing I'm not sure how to handle is Sorcery healing. I have been
running it like it can heal to completion since it is an acceleration of
  the natural healing.

Yes. I have been playing in Steve's campaign for over 11 years. We started
out using the system only on HeroQuests but now use it always.
