I've an idea that solves both these problems... Land Goddesses have
aspects, these aspects are the grain goddesses. If a LG doesn't have a
particular GG as an aspect then that grain WILL NOT grow (without
special magic) in that land. Thus Hon-Eel's heroquest brought a 'grain'
that existed in the East Wilds to Peloria, and is remembered for that,
but her quest was really 'just' to add another GG aspect to their GG...

Does this sound like a good idea? I just had it as a result of reading
these two posts and haven't thought it out...

This message made me think of the Theosophists, who are still trying to
prove that mystical experiences are the same throughout the world. This
leads them to distort the message of many faiths (esp Buddhism, IMHO) in
order to 'prove' their thesis about the universality of religion.

I agree totally, but the morokanth becomes a Herd-beast if he loses...
Same for the man. This is after all a reenactment of the survival
covenant.

Both, I should think. Liked your idea about a Dragon cult though...

In X-RQ-ID: 4305, Boris responded to my comments about
not really accepting hunting cats as realistic by siting
this example.
>The arabs trained cheetahs to hunt in North Africa;
>I'm not sure if they bred them for this, or just
>captured them. So there is at least one RW example.

Oops, my ignorance is showing. ;-)

I withdraw my objections to hunting cats...

I've often heard mention of Vinga the Adventuress, but
other than the fact that she is Orlanth's daughter, I
really don't know anything about her.
Does anyone have a cult write up?
If not, I'd like opinions on her Runic associations.
Being kin to Orlanth, she'd probably have some variation
on AIR, MOBILITY and MASTERY. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
-Matt

Pam:
Horse color chart? Yes, please, and I hope it contains
"skewbald" (I forget what it means, but I like the sound). I
have some stats on various horse breeds, but being a non-
horseman, I'll let anyone who has been on the back of a horse
more than once take first crack at posting such a piece before I
do.

Devin's Riddles (thanks, BTW):
1. Easy. Death.
2. Odd, but Dwarf/Mostali seems to be closest to correct.
3. Seems to be the Lunar Coders.
4. Medium. A die.
5. Easy. A spider.
6. Easy. Yelm (from an Orlanthi POV)
7. Very tough. No idea.

Re: Peter Whitelaw's Honor (Deity)
I take it this means Honor of a Particular Cult, rather than
(Give) Honor to a Particular God. Honor is a concept that
probably doesn't exist in Prax, though, and differs widely in
areas that do have it. Peter Michaels has some great ideas on
this, which I will endeavor to get him to post.
Either way, I didn't understand the SB example.

Re: Taskan Empire (non-Gloranthan postings)
I would ask that any further postings of the size of the
last batch be made privately to those who request it. I don't
say this because I didn't like the stuff--I just haven't had a
chance to look at it, nor do I anticipate having such time soon.

I'd like to announce with some reget that I won't be organizing a
RuneQuest-Con in 1996. School, and a few other things, will prevent
me from putting forth that kind of effort again so soon.

I hope that someone will step forward and volunteer. Ideally,
you should have some previous experience organizing gaming cons.
But the world isn't ideal, so take this as you will. I don't feel
that I have any kind of veto power over anyone who wants to step
forward, so please do so if you think you've got what it takes.

I will give modest aid as I can, but any potential RQ Evangelists should
expect that they and their con committee/friends will bear most of the
burden.

There's no hurry, so don't feel you've got to jump now or forever lose
your chance. I just want to give as much prior notice as possible,
as it's not too early to start making at least preliminary plans.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.
