Well doh!
I *like* Glorantha, too. A lot. But if someone finds that the HW system really suits their particular desires for a rules set to simulate Arthurian Britain, medieval Japan, Inca Peru, or Aryan India - more power to them, and more play for the game. I see the success of Glorantha (in it's, what, 3rd resurrection?) as being very heavily invested in the success of the rules system. If the game world was salable on its own, Greg would have hammered out a bastardized Glorantha based on someone else's rules, and that would have been it.
But no, there's more going on here. Greg (& Robin, et. al.) wrote HW (AFAIK) to be the best possible way to simulate the magic-permeated mythically loaded world of Glorantha. Ergo Glorantha and the Hero Wars "system" (in this significantly "essentialist" incarnation, and clearly contrary to the "nominalist" RuneQuest rules) are truly symbiotic.

There are going to be some people that love Glorantha despite HW. There are also going to be people that like HW but don't care for Glorantha. But note I say symbiotic, not parasitic. The bio-analogy sort of fails, but the reality is that anything that can increase the sales/exposure/acceptance of HW "the rules" MUST do the same inevitably for Glorantha and vice versa.

So this list is INclusionary - someone wants to talk about how they use HW to simulate combat between New Kingdom Egyptians and the Assyrians - more power to them.
