If you are interested, I have updated Gudny Stormchaser's character to include the skills of his followers. This may give you an insight into what they are used for.

If Gudny were to get into a sword fight with all of his followers present he would have a skill of 16 but would have more than 130 AP from his warrior followers.

If Gudny were to attempt a feat with his Wind Magic he would have a skill fo 7w but his followers would add another 51 AP giving him 78.
