Not wanting to dis Master Meints, but I think his description of feats isn't really correct.

A feat is like a spell. A feat is the rough HW equivalent of a rune spell, the standard thing you do with divine magic. It is not an ability, though - rather your divine affinity (which is an ability) will also optionally have several feats that describe specific things you can do with it.

So, for example, your Irripi Ontor priest might have a Divine Affinity - Truth magic, which as an ability with a value of 18. He might also have specific feats he can cast using it - Banish Illusion, for example. If he wished to banish an illusion he could use his feat at the full value of 18. If he wished to perform some other truth magic, but one that wasn't covered by any of his feats specifically, he could also attempt it, but at a substantial penalty for improvising.

Feats can be used to augment, as Rick describes, but they can also be used to directly oppose enemies, or to perform other tasks, or all the other things you can do with magic. As Wesley says, an ability like Truesword might be almost always used as an augment, but an ability like Start Thunderstorm only occasionally used as an augment. What is an augment or not is quite incorrect.
