It depends on how the follower is being "rolled for". Generally, followers of player characters do *not* get rolled for seperately - If my character has 2 followers, I do not roll for 3 people, I only roll for my character (at his ability rating) and the followers just give me APs based on their appropriate abilities.

The Narrator decides how Narrator characters will be rolled - He may decide that it is one darktroll with 4 AP-pool trollkin, a DT with 2 groups of 2 trollkin, or whatever. I would try to make as many "opponents" as there are Player-heroes, giving everyone something to do.

When follwers are just part of an AP-pool, they have no game presences outside of providing AP and negating the Multiple-attack/defense penalties. He can't attack on his own, and cannot be attacked separate from his hero. The follower is out of the contest when the Hero's AP drops below the follower's AP:

I have Sword 4w. I have a follower with sword 16. I have a total of 24+16=40 AP. When my AP drops to 24 in a contest, my follower has "dropped out" of the fight - he can no longer defend me from multiple attackers. If my AP raises to 25, my follower has caught his breath and come back to guard my back. The way to "target" my follower is to knock my AP to 24 or below.

Hope this helps,
RR
