Roderick, I'm sorry to frustrate you, but those extended contests can go on for a long time (based on luck some of those times) and that actually reminds me off the endless attrition of D&D somewhat as well. It also seems to have irritated some of my players a bit last game session. I also feel that extended die rolling interferes with the game flow to some degree.

I think that some points on my position bear repeating (from several of my posts):

  1. I haven't made up my mind for my home game (from the post you quoted).
  2. I intend to run Hero Wars canonically at cons regardless (from several posts).
  3. I was trying to be helpful to Nick (last post).
  4. I'm too busy putting up with arguing with Ryan Dancey over on ogf-l (though I'm trying to be constructive over there too) and I don't want to fight with anyone on this list (okay I lied; this one is new).
  5. Please don't take this criticism personally. Anything I say is meant to be helpful and constructive (I think that I've said similar things before).
  6. My biggest complaints with Hero Wars stem from confusing and obscure wording (several posts), hardly the position of a person who is intent on trashing Hero Wars.

Thanks,
Andy
