Since his combat ability is likely to have 2 more masteries than anyone he faces, he gets 2 bumps. So his normal failure rolls are turned into Criticals. So all he has to do is bet large each time. If he bets 50, then in most cases he transfers 50 APs from his opponents. If his opponent is a company captain, that's 50 APs worth of followers, which could easily be 4 soldiers.
