I concur, which is why I decreased the time requirements for initiation and devotion by two-thirds and additionally created time requirements for occupation. A farmer devotee of Barntar would spend 40% of his time engaged in magical tasks such as conducting a specific ritual and another 40% engaged in occupational tasks such as plowing his fields. That would leave 20% of his time for clan and family obligations, and certainly very little time for adventure.
Devotees of a working person's god should *work*, as their god does, rather than be supported by the work of others.
