I was thinking of the standard set, but see no real reason to limit it to them. Any rune would do, as long as there was an underlying agreement about what principles that rune "embodied" (not the right word, but it's the only one I have). I think that any arguments about use are going to fall within the same area as improv modifiers, application of abilities in certain situations, etc., i.e. the whole thing needs cooperation rather than confrontation.

The evil moral plot behind this suggestion is that we change Hero Wars to Hero Quest, we change Hero Point to Rune Points and finally change Hero Quest to Rune Quest. On these grounds alone, it is probably illegal on this list, but I do like the idea that someone with a lot of Rune Points could call themselves a Rune Lord, and everyone would know that they could do extreme things because they got the power.

Anyway, I'm armchair rules hypothesising here as I have not actually used this idea, but if directed HPs are being considered then why not use a neat feature of Glorantha to add colour.
