One rulesy way to manage this (after all this is hw-rules) might be that anything created by an illusion rune can never be permanent ('cos a permanent illusion would be Gloranthan reality). Any extension of duration could cost more than usual. Of course, the tempoary Death sword could still permanently kill... But there could be no enchantment using illusion magic.

An additional restriction might be that the magician could only cast an illusion of something that they have experienced or closely witnessed. So every Heortling tickster could create a temporary cow.  It might look, feel, act an smell like a cow to a human, but an Uz, Aldryami or Mostali would not be taken in 'cos they have different senses. A trickster that spent time with a Humakti that used lots of Death Magic would be able to create Death magic. However, the trickster could not create Healing magic until they witnessed a lot of Healing magic in action.

Furthermore, disguise moves out of Illusion and becomes part of entertainment and also of spying. So a trickster cannot cast "disguise as cow" (unless they have spnt time with an entertainer or spy) but can cast "become cow", with all of the implications that has.  Like cows being even more stupid and more without "higher" motives than even the most stupid and motiveless trickster in Dragon Pass.
