Kathy changed between HW and HQ - basically between me writing examples and Greg doing so. And Greg wrote in both "script" style and the more "storytelling" ones towards the back of the book. And yes, he intended that the Script style fade out in favor of the Storytelling one.

Most of Kathy's "bitchiness" was erased during the editing process. And her egregious rules errors. Some of the examples are left over from HW, some are re-written, most are brand new. All had to be checked, as the game changed subtly or grossly at points in the process.

And the examples are intended to illustrate specific rules or concepts - we'll never know why Kathy says Hengal can't jump and hack on page 189, because we don't see the rest of the story - how many AP does Hengal have left? What is the AP bid for that particular action? etc.

The ones complaining about Kathy are usually people who knew her early in the process. (Of course, I knew her first of all, as I stole the name of my boss for the "Narrator Character" :-) ).
