Hmm... a SERIES of Simple Contests is, I agree, a problem. Really, I, personally, would say anything not over in one go (an arrow shot, a spell cast, spotting an ambush, etc.) is an Extended Contest. Since the argument is continuing, that's what I'd do. However, you could use the 'Hearty Voice' as an augmentation giving the Debator a bonus?
