The main problem with that as I see it is that you will almost always be able to augment something with something else, probably giving you +2, end of story. I just think that ends up being a bit dull and limits the usefulness of all those extra abilities (and the incentive to increase more than a few of them). I like the idea that you can end up with a +15 augment because you have, as seems to be the parlance here, pushed lots of buttons. Only one does save on the bookkeeping, mind.
