Probably no surprise, since I play in Josh's game, and he in mine, but I'm also fond of tons of augments. In fact, I've said before, and I'll say again, if the conflict I come up with doesn't get at least a +8 in augments for the PC, I feel that I haven't done my job as narrator. That is, the contests that are most interesting to have, are those in which the player cares enough to try and find at least 4 augments that count in the particular case.

To me it's what the game is all about - displaying the character's interest and ability in the conflict in question. Why is he interested, for whom? How is he good at it, and what other abilities pertain? 95% of the contests in our games are simple contests - what fun is it if you just look up two numbers and roll?

Anyhow, this is all about play style preferences, so nobody is going to convince anyone that their way to play is wrong. But in this case, there's a new player posting and I think it's important to tell him that playing by the rules as written (it's pretty clear that one can augment with as many abilities as one likes - explicitly says so at one point, and implicitly all over the place), is not only valid, but works extremely well for some people. Multiple augmenting is not a bug for us, it's one of the features that most makes us want to play.

Heck, in my online game, I regularly have people getting over +20 in augments. Which just rocks. Nothing ridiculous about it.

Mike
