Very much nope. Its latin for 'spirit of the place' -- a spirit that embodies the nature of a location. Its the latin term for nymph but encompasses a lot of other things like lares and pentaes.

Syphs are elemental spirits/entities. The terminology has been moved to be exlusively sorcerous.
