Mixing ecstatic and theistic has RW corollaries, particularly in some
Afro-Carribean societies (Haiti in particular springs to mind).
I actually particularly enjoy that framework. Gives you plenty of
opportunities to confront the characters with "degenerate" versions
of their own myths and beliefs. Moral ambiguity makes for great
drama!
