Then Harrek would need just one more ability with mastery.

Sorry, my proposal was to have 5 total masteries, not 1w5.

Well, that's certainly how they should be increased. (I don't remember if subcults so small have time requirements.)

All I can think of is that it may be more efficient in other ways -- sacrifice a quick sheep rather than engage in a lengthy escstatic drumming, or perhaps it's easier for an entire group to sacrifice than to worship animistically.

Or the spirit is too big to integrate, and too big to capture. Perhaps the *spirit* suggests a sacrifice.

Waha has tons of helper spirits he can provide. Thunder Bird doesn't, but is too large to integrate.
