Of course, if you aren't providing the numbers, you need to include comparitives to enable us to distinguish between the great, the good and the also-rans. The disadvantage is that the numbers do it much better, and can easily be scaled against the players abilities.  

(So if I know that Sir Gareth is a "Great Knight" and my PC has the keyword "Knight: 10W2" is he better or worse than Sir Gareth? I know one answer is "It depends on the story", but the flip side is that sometimes the story might depend on the answer...
