In order to create a new Grimoire, the Adept needs to create a new node on the essence plane and forge links between that node and all the spells that are to be contained therein.

An Adept who is part of an established School, Church or other such organisation will normally be able to count on at least some level of support from their peers, as well as the benefits of following a known procedure when linking to the standard Grimoires of the School (etc). It is the Essence Magicians Equivalent of the Theists normal "Holy Day" Heroquests. In play, you would probably only run this sort of activity if there was serious opposition from a rival faction.

An Adept who sets out to create a new Grimoire is more like a Theist performing some sort of experimental Heroquest, or a Shaman venturing into a previously unknown area of the Spirit Plane. There is more risk, so there may be a lower level of community support, or even oposition from the more conservative elements the community. Adepts who sucessfully create a new Grimoire will often become the head of a New school, and/or find themselves on the road to Saint-hood.

I'm not sure how this fairly mechanistic view fits in with the HQ2.0 approach (I'm still waiting for the rulebook to appear in the shops) - ISTR a comment that talismans had been dropped, or at least depreciated, but hopefully the general principle still more or less holds.
