I do believe you're forgetting the 'cancelled masteries' rule for the fail/fail case. Indeed, I'm almost certain you are, since I know I was, until earlier today (though more lethargy than forgetfulness), and I was getting precisely the same.
To wit, these cases:
17 Both Marginal Defeat
Actually are all wins to the 2W guy, through the oddity I mentioned a post or two ago.
