It's a good basis, I agree. But Followers improve as the Hero does, always -8 and -12 from the Hero's best rating. How does that work with a horse or alynx? Not every natural rating should increase like this, certainly not indefinitely. For a start, most ratings wouldn't start off at the standard -8/-12, they'd start at the values in the rules. I don't mind a case-by-case basis, but as the concept of Follower animals was in the basic rules, I thought it would have been considered.
