Hmm, I could have sworn I answered this recently...

KoDP is a licensed Hero Wars product. However, it came out before Hero Wars, so it's subject to Gregging (i.e. being superseded by Greg Stafford's later works).

It's not clear to me why most people wouldn't actually use the rulebook to play Grazers, rather than worry about what's pure animism or not. According to the keywords that Greg and I wrote, Grazers use fetishes or integrate, depending on circumstances (such as age group or the spirit in question). My guess is the Pentans are fairly similar. As for Praxians, their draft keywords are somewhere at www.glorantha.com.

BTW, I think it was me who wrote the bit about unusual Grazer horses being followers or allies. An ordinary mount would certainly be a "piece of equipment." An ally horse would have some amount of self-awareness (in part to explain why it's sometimes unavailable -- I'd probably require a Goldeneye to be an ally). I'd actually be tempted to make an unusual horse follower completely usual except for one or two abilities which could raise, though I haven't playtested this. It's a slight deviation from the follower rules, but it avoids certain problems which have been pointed out.
