Or, if you want to look at it in the most basic sense -- AP's represent the ebb and flow of battle. When you finish a contest much higher than you started, you've done very well, overwhelming your opposition. When the engagement is over, you have managed to get yourself into a much more advantageous positon -- perhaps you ahve the high ground. Or perhaps that training is really starting to click in.
