I have decided to let any potential penalties apply not to the ability being augmented, but to the augmenting ability, for the rest of the session. This does not conform with the example on p. 134, but seems necessary to make it playable.

Jonas suggested a similar approach. I don't know which is best. His is consistent, mine makes the penalty dependent on the wanted enhancement.

Another good thing with this, applying the penalty to the augmenting ability, is that I think people would dare go for a higher bonus.
