So that's all right, then.
I think my worry is adequately met by Henrix' point -- edges cancel each other out, so that my +10 edge vs. your +6 edge leaves me doing +4 damage and you with no modifier (plus or minus).
At this point, whether you're "actually" increasing your armour rank or increasing your edge with your main ability is kinda moot. So it probably all works out OK in the end.
