I have a concept for a Hero cult of Humakt, which is that the hero being
worshipped (Saint Anthony) was a Malkioni who created a grimoire through
misapplied veneration of Humakt.
Now, my problem is: the Humakti followers of Saint Anthony receive his
grimoire as an affinity, but is it misapplied worship (because Saint
Anthony was Malkioni, and it is a grimoire) or not (because the power
comes originally from Humakt)?
I am happy that any monotheist followers of Saint Anthony (although I
don't foresee there being any) would be misapplying their veneration
(since the magic in the grimoire comes from a god), but I don't believe
this tells me anything about the position for Humakti.
I think the core of the question is: for the purposes of misapplied
worship (etc.) of a hero cult, does the nature of the hero or god take
precedence?
For anyone interested, the reason for the hero cult's existence is that
it provides feats/spells to permanently place enchantments on swords,
shields, and armour. Once I have satisfied myself as to the nature of
the worship (with the aid of the list's responses), I will write up the
hero cult, and submit it to the Issaries site.
