Yup, agreed.

I have no problem with this, no, but if you increase your CC ability (taking only a single HP), you increase both Unarmed and Poleaxe if you had both. It starts to smell like the old (whisper the name...) AD&D level system. As I've said, I'd prefer to increase each weapon style separately after a basic proficiency level in CC (maybe after 20 ability).
