But you assume any success means a physical hit. Loss of AP could just indicate the target having to duck (ducking is one thing, HAVING TO is another...), leap to safety, etc. or even just getting worried. Actually hitting the target is not the absolute minimum success.

Surely this would be better reflected in a defensive Edge (there's a tree in the way), or even a Bonus to any defensive skill (there could be a tree in the way, if you move to the right spot).

However, I do agree that excessive edges are not the way.
