I'm playing with the house rule that failed enhancements cause penalties to
the affinity not the enhanced ability. Maybe the affinities only bounce
back at appropriate ceremonies. If you enforced a worship roll every holy
day (with 1 bump in a shrine, two in a temple etc.) and applied penalties
in the manner of enhancements to all affinities, that might work. It also
means masteries in worship abilities let you act as a portable shrine! Just
a thought.
