I'd say the archer was trying to loan APs. An attempt to transfer only a few APs is a carefully aimed shot. Recklessly shooting as many as possible is an attempt to transfer many APs. The latter case is more likely to lead to an AP loss, which would mean hitting, or almost hitting, one of your side.
