Three similar situations:
- A hunter with a bow waits for a deer to cross his sights. He aims
and lets fly one arrow. He expects to kill the deer in one shot.
- The same hunter is hiding in the brush when a clansmen from a rival
clan intent on poaching his clan's lands stroll by. The poacher does
not see him and walks right by. The hunter wishes to wait until the
poacher is some distance away, then use his bow to kill (or disable) the
poacher instantly.
- A person who's played nothing but D&D assassins wants to play a D&D
assassin in Hero Wars. He presumes that his assassin is excellent at
sneaking up on people and killing them instantly by slicing their
throats. He is hired to discreetly kill a local Lunar official and
successfully positions him behind the official, knife drawn, and ready
to slice the poor bureaucrat's throat.
How would you mechanically handle "downing with one shot" in these
situations?
