Yes, but we already know that Theism and Animism are pretty much mutually exclusive. It's hellish difficult to change worship styles. Now, to my mind, dealing with spirits in this manner, combating them with your own 'mundane' abilities, is the basis of Animism. Spirit Combat is, primarily, a technique to capture spirits. Theists use Feats to defeat them (Ernalda's Dismiss Earth Spirit, Chalana Arroy's Fight Disease Spirit, etc.), but do not capture spirits. A Theist should learn one of these Feats to fight spirits. I do not say a Theist CANNOT learn Spirit Combat, but I think his Theistic elders and betters would consider it dangerously heretical. Disease Spirits are probably Chalana Arroy's greatest common enemy, but they get no ability to Spirit Combat them - just an equally useful (in fact better, as it's far easier to get it increased) Feat.
