They are? Shows how much I've read the rules. To be honest I'm not bothered what they were intended for - they work as a system and suit my group which is what we're all after (unless someone really feels they need to play the absolute official rules without deviation). Ultimately YGMV (or MGMV or something).

p.s. Actually I like deviation, but my player's heroes include a Danfive Xaron penitant who does tend to frown on such things.
